Bad Boy Chiller Crew release stormy single ‘When It Rains, It Pours’

The Bradford-born trio Bad Boy Chiller Crew are back after the release of their debut album ‘Disrespectful’ earlier this year.

Known for their bassline-infused trap sound and wholeheartedly British anthems, their latest single ‘When It Rains, It Pours’  is no exception – but it does break some new ground for the group.

The base of the melody is more subdued than their usual energetic remixes but it is still high tempo. It features the rolling and repetitive garage undercard lining the song with a nostalgic edge as if it were a record from the nineties.

Throughout, there are hints of R&B twisted into the rhythm that elevate it; its purpose ultimately being to get people dancing. These features are what continue to draw people into their sound and the reason it works so well in a live setting.

The subtle quality of the production is a distinctive choice when pitted against their previous offerings – it allows the lyrics to take the forefront. The group have space here to show off their developing rap style.

Lyrics like “Girl, you better change your tune / You ain't gonna say that sh*t in a song” show the group’s playful nature when writing bars, tending to stick with play-on-words and other clever quick tricks that feel off the cuff and engaging. At its heart, it is a cheeky take on moving on from someone, yet it keeps the subject matter light-hearted and irreverent.

Whether it’s setting the mood with a high fuelled party classic or impressing on the mic, Bad Boy Chiller Crew have shown the constant delivery of quality. They have a way of making their sound feel lived-in whilst having a very modern point of view. The space they have carved for themselves in the scene is individual with ‘When It Rains, It Pours’ being another strong addition to the collection.
