‘Top 10 staTues tHat CriEd bloOd’ Strives To Prove Why No Band Can Touch Bring Me The Horizon, Exploring Darkness Without Snuffing Out The Light

Bring Me The Horizon is a band renowned for their ability to transport fans with their music, not only instrumentally in their unique blend of technological metalcore and alternative rock but also in the ability to captivate aesthetically, creating an entire thematic world, submersing fans in an entirely different reality. ‘Top 10 staTues tHat CriEd bloOd’, taken from their latest album ‘POST HUMAN: NeX GEn’, does this tenfold.

Delving into the darkness of the human emotion, the song grapples with inner turmoil and the exhaustion of constantly chasing one's demons along the road of personal struggle and recovery.

Instrumentally, the track has a characteristically modern Bring Me The Horizon sound, the driving drum beat and distorted guitars creating the techno-seeped atmosphere. Vocally, Sykes shines in the track, shifting from emotionally packed melodies to screams of anguish that harken back to the band’s metalcore roots. The chorus is what makes the song stand out on the album; while pleasing in its upbeat sound, it’s the lyrics that provide the impact as it vividly explores suffering.

Accompanying the track comes a blockbuster-esque music video that visually explores the track's main pursuit: what it means to be human when technology is so pivotal in who we are. Complete with lightsaber choreography and a rave fitting for a Matrix film, it really does speak to the imagination and creativity of the band. No one does it like Bring Me The Horizon.

While ‘Top 10 staTues tHat CriEd bloOd’ is submerged in its own darkness, there is a light that shines through, as after all “once you hit the bottom / At Least there’s nowhere to go but up”. The song provides a message that resonates with every listener, no matter their personal struggles, that the only person who can save you from the darkness is yourself.
