RUIZ! is a multi-instrumentalist, lyricist, and artist based in Sheffield, UK and is best known for defying genre with every release. First starting out as a bass player in the band The Only Fruit, RUIZ! now performs as a solo act writing his own material and deep diving into a multitude of topics that are thought-provoking but with an added warmth.
‘Love Is Blind’ is an observational track that pulls into question modern relationships and whether or not they are built to last. With such a heavy subject matter RUIZ! interestingly explores this using a mesmerising soundscape, blending rhythmic drumbeats, hypnotic synths and melodic keys that creates a groove that allows its listeners to dance through heartache.
RUIZ! shows off his lyricism throughout, behind the upbeat instrumentals are hard-hitting lyrics, that create the perfect juxtaposition. Diving into a whirlwind of emotions, from euphoria, denial, realisation and then acceptance is best shown through the lyrics “Why do we do this? Why can’t we be strong?”.
