Wotts Metamorphose With Bright And Poppy 'Surrender'

For the majority of outfits, when a member takes a step back, it marks a make-or-break point. But when that project is a duo, the departure becomes even more significant. Do they dissolve? Go solo under a different moniker? For Jayem, the decision wasn't an easy one, but continuing Wotts' legacy without Ricky 100 by his side was the clear resolution: one made from courage and unwavering determination.

Aptly named, 'ALOHA!' marked Wotts' first release as a singular entity, and the follow up, 'Surrender' narritavely explores shedding the past ("I surrender what I'm all about") and metamorphosing into your idealised self - even in the  face of uncertainty. Diving into freedom, and growth, bright, poppy vocals offer comfort and optimism through a synth-filled journey of audacious self-actualisation.

Discussing the release, Wotts offers: “I wrote the song when I was stuck between who I was and who I wanted to be... I wanted the second half to feel like everything is breaking open, like you’ve been holding something in the entire time, and then it just spills out into this massive, freeing moment”.

Sonically, the cut weaves through bold, bubbly pop with textures that draw comparisons to Australian surf rock. With 'Surrender', Jayem is continuing to prove that perseverance was the right choice, and builds excitement for the future of Wotts as a solo project.
