Indie mainstays Wotts has unveiled their second single of 2026, plucked from the recently released sophomore EP 'COPE'. Where 'little bug' offered silver linings and wished for better holidays, 'ALOHA!' takes the sentiment a little more literally. With the title conjuring brightly coloured flower garlands draped over sun-tanned necks, crystal waters as far as the eye can see, stripped-back instrumentation, and surfer-rock synths pull the narrative together.
Previously a duo, 'ALOHA!' marks Wotts' first outing as a solo venture: “Sometimes you surrender to the universe, and things work out. With Ricky leaving the project and 'COPE' being wrapped, the track came to be at the right time. It was a perfect bookend”, he noted. Despite initially approaching being a lone act with trepidation, as the months passed, Wott's outlook changed, perseverance reigned, and he took the challenge in his stride: "Ricky is crazy talented, so when he told me he was moving on, I couldn’t imagine a world where I did this on my own... I eventually just said f*ck it, why not keep at it?"
Steeped in sun-soaked optimism atop a backdrop of Tame Impala-inspired swirling synths, soaring harmonies perfectly complement the delicately-penned poetic lyrics, and make for a soothing indie rock cut.
Despite being a member down, 'ALOHA!' is just as full-bodied and impressive as Wott's previous releases. The track softly bids farewell to a collaborative chapter and builds excitement for the project's newly independent future.
