Multifaceted artist, Harry Jordan (Eades, Far Caspian) is on his first solo music venture, alongside breaking out as an in-demand producer (The Big Moon, Keo, Opal Mag).
With his debut EP release ('This Beautiful Life') on the horizon, we chat with Jordan about his illustrious career, playing in Barcelona, and his desert island album picks as part of the Seven Questions with Music Is To Blame Series.
Introduce yourself and where you’re from.
Hello! My names Harry Jordan. I’m a musician, songwriter, and music producer/engineer based in Norfolk from Bam Bam Studios, which I set up a few years ago. I also play in Eades and used to play guitar for Far Caspian. Recently, I’ve been working on a lot of other people’s records, which has been a lot of fun. And after a few years tweaking away in my spare time, it finally felt like a good time to start releasing music as a solo artist!
What do our readers need to know about you?
I’m a musician, producer/recording engineer who, after playing in bands for the last 15 years, has recently decided to release music as a solo artist for the first time. Over the years, I’ve played in bands like Eades and Far Caspian, as well as working in the studio with acts like Keo and Sam Tompkins.
What have you got coming up that you’re most excited for?
My debut EP ‘This Beautiful Life’ is out on 17th April, followed by a release party at Voodoo Daddy’s in Norwich on the 18th. I got a really good live band together at the end of last year and was hoping to take the songs on the road more moving forward. I’ve also been chipping away at my debut record as a solo artist, which has been a lot of fun. It’s not far off being finished now. Just a few vocals and guitars to do, then it’ll be ready for a mix. So I’ll be looking forward to putting that out as soon as possible.
Besides that, I’ve been working with loads of great artists in the studio recently, with some very exciting releases coming out later in the year, but I’m not sure how much I can or can’t talk about those.
What’s the best run-in you’ve had with a fan?
When I was playing in Barcelona with Far Caspian, a fan made an incredible drawing of me whilst I was playing on stage that she gave me after the show, which was pretty sweet… I still have that somewhere.
What’s been your biggest ‘I’ve made it’ moment so far?
To be honest, I’m far from 'making it' in terms of what I want to achieve in life, but I’ve definitely had my fair share of pinch-me moments over the years. Supporting Pond and getting to hang out with some of the guys in Tame Impala was pretty cool. Getting to tour around the UK with Eades and Far Caspian was always incredibly special - getting to meet all the people your music has touched is one of the most special parts of making music you can have. Especially when you hear people in the crowd singing back to you.
I recently got to work with an incredible band in the studio who have a very big album coming out soon. They turned down a very well-known producer to make the record with me, which was incredibly flattering. I don’t think I can say who it is right now, but that felt like a huge moment for my production career.
