Canadian duo WOTTS have returned with the release of the stellar ‘Better Days’. Steeped in hope and promoting optimism, the new track is plucked from their upcoming EP ‘FLANK!’ that they teased in an interview with us last month.
Comprised of Jayem (vocalist and multi-instrumentalist) and Ricky 100 (bass/guitar), WOTTS' discography is a fresh, genre-spanning dive into overt psychedelia and indie-pop.
Having previously cited Tame Impala as a heavy influence for their carefully curated sound, ‘Better Days’ boasts infectious instrumentation and a woozy soundscape.
Following on from the more upbeat, swirling synths of previous track 'NOT US', 'Better Days' gives listeners a glimpse of the softer, more stripped back side of WOTTS, offering a more soothing (but still synth-laden) approach to their uniquely-crafter sound.
Produced by WOTTS vocalist Jayem, he notes; "This one really came out of me processing some bad stuff that happened last summer. I wanted it to feel like a soundtrack to a summer night when stuff feels a bit heavy and all you can do is hope for the best”. This narrative shines through the bright and hope-tinged lyricism that urge for silver-linings and "wait[ing] around for brighter days".
'Better Days' is a delightful new offering from syth-pop pioneers WOTTS.
