Detroit’s I Prevail Ambitiously Enter New Era

In the first release without co-vocalist Brian Burkheiser, I Prevail returns with a powerhouse of a song, ‘Violent Nature’

Despite Burkheiser's unexplained departure after years spent together, the band has entirely rebranded and seems to be raring to enter this new era. Though the band has always been heavy, this is the beginning of something new and refreshing for I Prevail.

‘Violent Nature’ stands at two minutes and ten seconds, but in that short time manages to become one of the band's heaviest songs yet. Unlike the artists' previous releases, the song is relentless and non-stop, raw and aggressive. Previously, Burkheiser’s vocals blended with now sole vocalist Eric Vanlerberghes screams, but now it seems the heavier route the band is taking coincides with these vocal changes.

The track is an intense and powerful release from a band whose fans have grown to know what to expect. The track’s breakdown is the standout part, showing off the expert musicianship and dynamic that the band has spent years crafting. With shifting expectations and pushing boundaries, the Grammy-nominated rockers are no strangers to the game, and the new route they are going down is fascinating.

The aggression throughout ‘Violent Nature’ seamlessly ties in with the lyrics, such as, "Do me a favor / Cut your heart out / Then swallow the razor". This heavier style is reflected in the lyrics and perhaps what fans and new listeners can expect from I Prevail, with this ambitious and fierce first release of the coming era.
