Brighton rock artist Sansom is back with a bang, dropping his latest track, ‘Call Me’ - a high-octane anthem that channels the raw edge of Queens Of The Stone Age and Royal Blood while carving out a sound that’s unmistakably his own.
It's bold, electric, and unapologetically catchy whilst honing in on some deeply personal themes.
‘Call Me’ plays with texture throughout, using experimental pedal chains to shape its pacing and energy. It opens with the sound of literal dial tones before diving into a sharp, rhythmic guitar arrangement that mimics the motion of dialling a number.
The track’s narrative follows a toxic relationship following a fallout. Sansom encapsulates this with searing lyrics: “Can you call me back? / ‘Cause I’m burning inside”. His vocal delivery heightens the track’s emotional weight, aligning with the instrumentals made up of a funky wave of guitars and heavy drums, forming what,to start, is deceptively upbeat but soon grows darker and more intense as the song progresses.
As the tempo continues to build, it becomes a literal echo of a growing sense of desperation and the frustration of reaching out to someone who won’t answer or call back. The instrumentals have grown darker, creating a stark contrast to the beginning and perfectly capturing the emotional toll that Sansom feels.
With ‘Call Me’, Sansom delivers more than just a rock anthem; he crafts a visceral, emotionally charged ride through heartbreak and chaos. It’s a track that hits hard, but its infectious hooks and sharp instrumentation make it a true earworm, pulling listeners back again and again.
