Hunch Power release punchy indie-rock single 'Everything Changed in a Minute'

Hailing from Nottingham, punk-rock band Hunch Power are relative newcomers to the city's music scene. The band's name refers to frontman Harvey Springfield's instinctive relocation to Nottingham after moving on from London-based punk-rock band Barking Poets

Perhaps it is Springfield's seasoned musicianship that gives Hunch Power its self-assured identity. With catchy riffs, hard-hitting vocals, and an emphatic drum and bass, the band situates themselves firmly within the hybrid rock genre.

Their debut single, socially conscious headbanger 'Stop the World', hit streaming platforms in early September.

While 'Stop the World' explicitly addressed world leaders in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, entreating them to "take action and save lives before it's too late", 'Everything Changed in a Minute' is less precisely aimed but just as fierce.

On 'Everything Changed in a Minute', Hunch Power begin to set themselves apart from their contemporaries. Though the influence of Frank Turner is evident, as on the band's first single, 'Everything Changed' thrums with a unique energy.

Opening with a pounding drum beat, the red, black and white graphics of the accompanying music video aptly fits the track – a bursting-at-the-seams, energetic song that marks a strong second single for the band.

The video oscillates between red and black-toned graphics of the band playing, close ups on the mic and guitar strings, and lyric-appropriate images of busy streets, blank TV screens and figures shaking hands. Alongside an emphatic backing, the track's lyrics employ a series of images depicting a gradual unravelling of the mind: "There's a crack in the wall and I'm sure it wasn't there before".

If Hunch Power could be considered a post-pandemic band, it is in their interior-focused mining of the feelings of alienation and anger that marked lockdown-era life for many. As anti-establishment rockers with promising songwriting prowess and exciting production, they are definitely a band to keep an eye on.

'Everything Changed in a Minute' will be available on streaming services from January 2023.

You can catch Hunch Power in action at The Fiddler's Elbow in Camden Town, London, on December 11, and supporting PET NEEDS at The Bodega in Nottingham on December 15.

  1. You know, there's a rather serendipitous story of how I ended up on one interesting site. It all started on a lazy Sunday afternoon when I was watching old movies online. Quite unexpectedly, a random YouTube video popped up in my recommended list. Curiously, it wasn't a movie trailer or a music video. The behind-the-scenes insight and the idea of such an intimate video fascinated me. I decided to explore further and before I realized it, I found myself on the hd porn platform. It was like stepping into a whole new world. Although I don't usually share this, I do visit this site from time to time.
