Glasgow's Heavyskint Continue To Climb With 'Headstone'

Glasgow's heavyskint are quickly making their mark on Scotland's emerging music scene, with their latest single 'Headstone' adding further momentum to the band's rising popularity. Arriving amid a ramp-up in live shows and an increasing fanbase, the track is an exciting addition to their growing sound.

'Headstone' is a guitar-heavy single that captures the familiar 90s grunge sound of heavyskint while introducing a slightly different pace from their previous singles, 'He Says, She Says' and 'Vice'. With a raw, palpable tone, the track is driven by hard-hitting lyrics exploring themes of regret and self-reflection. Lines such as "I think I could've done better / I spent my life chasing souls / And I've slashed and stabbed just for pleasure / 'Cause I'm a f**king mole" convey a sense of guilt and frustration, adding a vulnerable yet confrontational edge to the song.

One of the track's biggest strengths is frontman Jacob Hunter's raspy, fervent vocals, which cut through the distorted guitars and pounding drums. His raw, unrefined delivery adds to the already introspective lyrics. Hunter sings with a sense of urgency and anger, giving listeners an emotional performance that feels honest. The intensity continues to build throughout the song, creating an increasingly hectic atmosphere. This eventually gives way to a 30-second instrumental interlude, where the guitars take centre stage before leading into the single's final moments with renewed power.

Despite having just four official singles and being yet to put out a full-length record, heavyskint are already building a noticeable presence within the alternative rock and grunge scene. With no signs of slowing down, the band continues to announce live shows, with their next one being in Liverpool on November 12th.
