Slayyyter recently appeared on Triple J’s Like a Version, a segment where artists get to cover other tracks, tackling‘Violet’ by Hole, which she described on her Instagram as one of her favourite songs of all time.

The grit and tone of Slayyyter's voice pair perfectly with the track, with the rasp and strength in her vocals carrying the emotion of the song. Her delivery seems effortless, showcasing a different side to her vocals, while still feeling completely natural. This performance also shows that Slayyter is not to be boxed in by the expectations of her hyperpop delivery, with different approaches evident in tracks such as ‘Yes God’ from her recent album release. ‘Violet’ builds on this and acts as a great example of her ability to adapt her vocals to a different style while still bringing the qualities that make her voice so distinctive.

Slayyyter also performed a live version of ‘Brand New Channels’, a new release, while on the show. It is an upbeat, dance track which sounds like it could easily belong in a montage from a movie. Her vocals were also a standout here, holding the emotions of the track and delivering a strong performance.

This performance highlights exactly why Slayyyter is such an exciting artist to watch, particularly as she continues to explore what she is capable of as a vocalist.
