Rising Stars Wotts Release 'little bug'

Ottawa-based synth-pop utilisers Wotts have been making waves on the indie-rock scene with their Tame Impala meets POND sound that's equal parts darkly reflective, as it is vibrant and sun-soaked. The latest track to join their plentiful discography is the dreamy stylings of the affectionate and reflective 'little bug'.

Noted as being "super influenced" by English shoegaze outfit Slowdive, the release digs deep into swirling synths and firmly places its roots in the euphoric, textured ambient pop.

The narrative offers lyrical hope for silver linings ("pray for better holidays") and unconditional support ("pain comes, scars grow.. I'll be here"), before reflecting on the tumultuous times they made it through ("we saw it through the love and pain, all the bugs that came and went"), and showing gratitude for the "sunny days" amongst the grey.

Talking on the track, producer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Jayem offers, "It’s about loving someone enough to guide them forward, and the quiet ache of knowing you can’t protect them forever”. Where his counterpart, and guitarist Ricky 100, continues: "We wanted everything to feel slightly blurry, like you’re looking back on something important... All the elements we included are meant to melt into each other in a kind of hazy emotional space”.

Slowly making up part of a larger project (EP 'COPE'), 'little bug' joins the previously released 'he spoke with conviction', and the delicately uncertain 'terminal' - what comes next is set to be career-defining.
