‘Fabulous’ is MEEK’s debut EP, introducing her with clarity and confidence. The project keeps things tight with three tracks, allowing each moment to act deliberately and real. She doesn’t aim for spectacle. Instead, the EP seems to focus on tone, identity and emotional honesty, making the whole track feel grounded in lived experiences and told through slight humour, resilience and high-levels of control.
Opening with its title track, the mood is established immediately. Built around repetition and lines ready to be chanted by crowds, the song treats confidence as something learned, not performed. MEEK writes from the aftermath of heartbreak, pairing blunt humour with direct admissions of recovery and self-reflection. The contrast works because the delivery stays measured. Nothing feels exaggerated. The production remains clean and open, giving her vocal space to lead and letting the lyrics land without distraction.
‘Fabulous’ works as a clear statement of identity. MEEK frames self-belief as something formed through chaos, therapy and nightlife as opposed to perfection. The chorus feels built for people to sing along together, where connection matters more than polish. As a standalone track, it lays out her artistic voice clearly and hints at the direction the EP takes.
Accompanying this track is the striking music video directed by Sophie Muller, who is known for her work with artists such as Sade, Kylie and Beyoncé. Set in Blackpool, the video follows MEEK on an energetic and wild journey through the seaside town, merging playful chaos with a bold aesthetic. Muller brings this to life with her distinctive style, perfectly mirroring the song's vibe.
‘Brixton’ comes next, shifting listeners into a quieter and more reflective space. Stripped back and consisting of a slightly slower pace, the song reads as a portrait of place and routine in South London. MEEK sings with restraint, allowing tone and phrasing to carry meaning. The writing feels observational, centred on memory and atmosphere rather than drama. That shift adds depth, drawing the EP inward after its bold opening. Vocally, ‘Brixton’ illuminates restraint and control. Emotion comes through small changes in delivery, and the steady performance keeps the track intimate. As the centre of the EP, this acts as an anchor, revealing the grounding beneath the confidence introduced earlier.
The closing track, ‘I want love, but not that much’, sharpens the emotional focus. Built on dry humour and pointed lines, the song explores boundaries after disappointment. MEEK approaches the subject with clarity and distance, balancing vulnerability with self-protection. The tone feels self-aware with no hint of bitterness, supported by a crisp production that keeps attention on the vocals and lyrics.
This final track brings the EP’s themes together, with self-worth, control and emotional conviction at its centre. While the writing stays playful, the message remains firm; MEEK chooses autonomy without softening her stance, closing the project with intention.
Across all three tracks, cohesion comes from voice and attitude rather than sound alone. Each track moves through its own emotional space, yet the placement appears calculated. Energy builds, eases, then picks up again, giving the EP a smooth and natural flow. Instead of trying to overwhelm, ‘Fabulous’ works through restraint. The project knows what to leave out, focusing on connection, clarity and personality. MEEK does not chase spectacle; she makes her mark through her control. As a debut, ‘Fabulous’ feels like the start of a much bigger story for the singer. Presenting an artist with a strong sense of self and audience awareness, the EP expresses confidence without trying too hard. MEEK is set to bring her high-energy performance to festivals this summer, including opening the main stage at sold-out Mighty Hoopla, and confirmed appearances at Boardmasters and Brighton Pride.
Since its release on Friday, ‘Fabulous’ has officially been featured as the soundtrack for the teaser and trailer for Apple TV+’s upcoming series Margot’s Got Money Troubles. This new project is from award-winning American writer and producer David E. Kelley, and will star the likes of Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman.
With a debut like ‘Fabulous’, MEEK’s future looks bright, and she is just getting started.
