Boxing Club Pack A Punch On 'City Boy'

Bridging the England-Scotland divide are rising punk-rock outfit Boxing Club. Showing that the borders here are not forced separators, but instead a dare for unification - they're utilising their music and platform to deliver equally confrontational and driving narratives.

Formed just last year on London's ever-thriving, underground music scene, Boxing Club are a sonic collaboration of friends-of-friends and connections made through intriguing forum adverts.

Only their sophomore single release, 'City Boy', delivers a cathartic soundscape hoisted by insistent percussive beats and relentless guitar lines. 'City Boy' draws overt comparisons to indie-rock outfits such as Idles, Fontaines D.C., with its punk-veined vocals and stadium-ready anthemic qualities. Biting and utterly infectious, the Michael Smith-produced (RYP Recordings) cut explores the dark underbelly of the relationship between bold aspirations and unrelenting pressure

The track follows on from their debut offering - the dramatic and frank 'Barbra', which achieved instant success, being picked up early by both BBC 6 Music and Radio X.

Plucked from their upcoming EP 'What's the State Done To You', both 'Barbra' and 'City Boy' set the stage for an exciting 2026 for the rising quartet, and prove the band are made for more than just the London underground scene.
