Witch Post have created something magical with the release of their latest single.
The duo - Dylan Fraser and Alaska Reid - have blended their styles perfectly in ‘Twin Fawn’ to create a tune that epitomises their signature dreamy style.
The instrumentals align very well with their shared vocals, guitar riffs with harmonies, in a polished fashion, further exacerbating the refined indie rock sound.
The lyrics are sung plaintively and speak of irreversible change ( “Now it’s just sun-stained walls and dreams / I left to decay”), which further adds to the storytelling element Reid and Fraser manage to produce.
Meanwhile, the song has a key theme of reminiscing about experiences in life, highlighted by the lyrics. One prime example is when Fraser sings “Sunburn by the neon / The drive that never ends”. Here, reminiscence is a powerful sensation and is encapsulated in the song as both singers reflect on memories, longing for positive feelings from previous summers and the perfect times that they created. This plays a part in forming an emotional catharsis from a lyrical standpoint.
‘Twin Fawn’ combines heartfelt lyrics with a consistent indie sound and strong background acoustics, making for a beautiful record.
