W.A.S.P. Prepare For September Leg Of Album ONE: Alive! Tour

Iconic heavy metal band W.A.S.P. is preparing to embark on the UK leg of their tour, celebrating the 40th anniversary of their first album, released in 1984.

The group was a staple within the LA music scene, alongside the likes of L.A. Guns and Mötley Crüe. They have now, with a few lineup changes along the way, amassed fifteen studio albums and are recognised as a staple group for metal fans.

The Sunset Strip scene of the early eighties defined eighties metal. Clubs like the Starwood, the Rainbow, and Whisky a Go Go saw legendary acts work their way up the ladder to become some of the biggest artists of the time. It was here that W.A.S.P. began to make a name for themselves with live shows that included throwing raw meat into the audience and elaborate costumes which were reminiscent of the glam metal artists they would play alongside.

Their latest shows see W.A.S.P. play their first album front to back, including their iconic hits 'L.O.V.E. Machine' and 'I Wanna Be Somebody'. Their arrival in the UK in September sees them hit some staple cities such as London and Manchester. With only a select number of shows for this one-of-a-kind tour, the atmosphere amongst fans will undoubtedly be electric. They previously played several UK dates in July, which has increased the anticipation for their remaining appearances. Fans can also expect to be treated to a selection of their classics that don't appear on the debut, creating a special tour that commemorates the record as well as providing the fan favourites from across the years.

Frontman Blackie Lawless has been with the band since its conception in 1982 and has driven their shock-factor style image that is just as famous as their music. On this tour, he's joined by bassist Mike Duda, who has been an active member of W.A.S.P. since 1997. Completing the lineup are guitarist Doug Blair and drummer Aquiles Priester. Whilst the live lineup is not the same as the group who recorded the album, they still deliver the fundamental energy and musicality that represents a legendary debut.
