‘Hunting Season’ Paints Biffy Clyro In A Brilliant New Light

Best known for previous works including ‘Many Of Horror (When We Collide)’ and ‘Biblical’, the Kilmarnock trio, Biffy Clyro, move the band in a new direction with their newest release ‘Hunting Season’. The second single from their anticipated album ‘Futique’‘Hunting Season’ expertly prepares listeners for what is set to be one of the greatest albums of the year.

A song jam-packed with angst and ire, it steps away from the softer version of Biffy Clyro that listeners are accustomed to and instead allows the band to fully confront their problems with the world, letting listeners seek comfort in the organised chaos.

Having always been a band that uses lyricism to their advantage, ‘Hunting Season’ is no different. With lyrics including “sneering at a scene from above, ‘cause that’s the safest distance to judge” and “you’re a pump-action fella with an addiction to the show”. It paints the band in a whole new light, one that doesn’t shy away from expressing their pain and frustration.

The ending is the perfect conclusion to such a high-energy song. The vocals cut out, permitting the guitar and bass to carry the song for a few moments before the drums come crashing in and all work in harmony together, making for one last big, powerful hurrah.

A refreshing take in the cluttered music world, ‘Hunting Season’ skilfully demonstrates why Biffy Clyro have been one of the prime examples of Scottish bands for decades and gets listeners buzzed for ‘Futique’, which is expected to be released on the 26th of September.
