Back with a highly anticipated new single, Cat Burns tells a heartwarming story of love and loss with her latest release, ‘All This Love’.
Known for her lyrical storytelling and vulnerability, this track doesn’t glibly promise getting over grief; instead, it offers permission to find joy even in the midst of pain.
Following her sapphic anthem ‘GIRLS!’ released in January, and candid debut album last year, ‘All This Love’ is a poignant reflection of friendship and finding the beauty in life. Throughout, reframing her experience of loss and healing, "Cause so much of you lives in me, you know / and it's helping me to grow". Posting about the track on Instagram, Burns said, “I truly do believe grief is just love with no home, and it’s up to you to find new places to put it, and those places could be really beautiful”.
Opening the track with an audio clip dedicating it to her late grandad, “I really hope he’ll enjoy this”, ‘All This Love’ offers hope and comfort to those who have experienced grief and loss, penning a story of sharing tears, heartbreak, but crucially also love with the people around you. In the visualiser, a bright blue sky surrounds Cat as she holds a wheelbarrow overflowing with plush hearts, encapsulated by the lyrics, “Grief is love with no place to go”. Moving away from the electronic edge of ‘GIRLS!’, in this single, the 2024 Mercury Prize and multi-BRIT award nominee combines an intimate acoustic sound with uplifting harmonies that, despite the undertones of grief, feel at home for the summery August release.
Cat Burns will perform at All Points East on 23rd August, promising to be an iconic sold-out festival with an all-female line-up, headlined by RAYE.
