Alessi Rose has stripped back a little from her original up beat anthems but it’s not quite a ballad - it moves with purpose, guided by layered synths, subtle percussion, as well as conversational lyrics that hits harder than it should.
Alessi demonstrates intimacy as well as becoming self-aware; a song for the kind of love that asks for too much and never promises enough.
Alessi’s vocals are effortless in an emotional range; light, pretty much teasing in the verses before she breaks with frustration in the chorus. “Oh, we used to have sex now my calls don’t go through” is a lyric that stands out and delivers a sense of betrayal and feeling used with a mixture of clarity to where she stands.
The production is polished but restrained, letting the storytelling take the lead. There's confidence here - Alessi knows what she’s saying and more importantly what she won’t say again. Fans of Holly Humberstone, Gracie Abrams and Sabrina Carpenter ‘emails i can’t send’ era would find love for this track.
‘Everything Anything’ is a soft, throw shade in his face pop; graceful, modern, and a little too relatable. Alessi doesn’t beg to be heard, she whispers and we listen.
