Just as listeners and critics thought that the realms of CMAT’s glorious Irish charm couldn’t possibly extend any further following the release of her single ‘Take A Sexy Picture Of Me’, the singer-songwriter has duly added another anthem to her artistic armour, ‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’.
The third single to be unleashed from her eagerly awaited album ‘EURO-COUNTRY’, ‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’ is a five and half minute transcendental trip into the bejewelled belly of indie-pop.
With ‘Take A Sexy Picture Of Me’ gaining international applause and even having its own dance routine playfully nicknamed the ‘Woke Macarena’, CMAT’s footing on the podium of modern indie-pop icons appeared steadfast. Yet following the release of ‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’, her gold medal position may be well and truly cemented.
In true CMAT fashion, playful tongue-in-cheek commentary is seamlessly married with more serious moral undercurrents, with the single at first glance appearing to be a tricksy diss at the celebrity chef, whilst simultaneously detailing the pointlessness of judging others. Such twin tipped lyrics are interspersed with the most cathartic of CMAT-style yodelling as the track reaches its layered and clamorous crescendo.
‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’ is a single of breakneck speeds, vivid instrumentation and spades of CMAT’s rich reaches, which when combined, are all the necessary requirements for a spate of hardcore headbanging. A boisterously exuberant declaration of her musical ability, ‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’ is a track which is propulsively designed for an encore.
With the release of ‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’ alongside two previously released and equally acclaimed singles, the eventual unveiling of ‘EURO-COUNTRY’ on August 29th is a hotly anticipated affair. Not only this, but CMAT's upcoming slot at Glastonbury Festival’s eminent Pyramid Stage shall only serve in broadening her already infectious Irish charm. So get practicing the ‘Woke Macarena’ and garnering a distaste for gastronomical giants, as it feels only correct to declare this the summer of CMAT.
Alongside her slot at Glastonbury Festival, CMAT has also announced a host of in-store performances throughout the UK, tickets for which can be found here.
