Franz Ferdinand have collaborated with Johnny Marr to release a new version of introspective track ‘Build It Up’, from their most recent album ‘The Human Fear’.
The reimagined single marches onto the scene, turning heads and draws attention instantly. The drumbeat is steady, but hypnotic and provides the perfect precursor for the effortless guitar

Marr’s influence on this song is unmistakable but if you're looking for ‘This Charming Man’ 2.0, whilst I’m sure it's out there, it’s not here. The special quality Johnny Marr possesses is the ability to know exactly where a song is lacking, come up with something on the spot and insert it into the rest of the song as if it were always there and that’s what he does here.
The song culminates with a middle eight that exists the chorus with authority. The tension rises and with it you begin to ascend until you arrive at cloud 9, the lift door opens, and you’re presented with a heavy rock Marr solo, embodying the sprinkling of gold dust on this already brilliant song.
