‘Joyride’, CATTY’s first song of 2025, has gained over 100k streams in two days, proving to be her fastest growing song to date. With many, including Radio 1’s Jodie Bryant, declaring ‘Joyride’ song of the year, it is clear CATTY is taking the music industry by storm - and everyone should be listening.
Fans, known as the ‘Coven’, have been clamouring online for the release of ‘Joyride’ since she debuted the track live at her November headline show at Lafayette. The song had its worldwide premiere as a ‘Future Bop’ on BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop. Posting her reaction on TikTok, CATTY shared; “this is the most like an artist I’ve felt”.
Opening with dramatic strings and virtuosic piano, the track takes you on the wild ride of going all in and risking being broken in the process; “Can't tell if you're in for good or if I'm / Warming your bed before I get replaced”. Plucking strings become a musical ticking clock over the theatrical piano as CATTY sings “I think that every romance has an expiration date”, forming what seems like her inner battle of self-doubt and raw passion; “Take me in any which way / I don't even care if I get out alive / I'ma let you take me on a joyride”.
CATTY is upping the gears, with ‘Joyride’ being her first music video, co-starring I Kissed a Girl’s Amy Spalding who has been using clips of ‘Joyride’ to soundtrack her Lime Bike TikToks. Known online under the username catty mp3, one fan took to X, sharing “first catty music video?! CATTYMP4 has entered the chat”.
With a chorus that feels like driving with the windows down and your foot flat on the accelerator, do not miss your chance to go for a ‘Joyride’ this summer.
CATTY is headlining Close Up Festival on the 22nd May, you can find tickets via DICE here.
