YUNGBLUD, the stage name of Dom Harrison, has been pushing boundaries and championing individuality since he first emerged on the music scene. His 2017, debut single, ‘King Charles’, brought together a fanbase of “misfits” - angry with the status quo and shouting for change; “When it all goes wrong, there'll no confession / Only a digression, a concession, a society's aggression / We're create a phenomenal compression, the heads of the youth, what do we do?”.
Whilst the musical lead up to his fourth studio album ‘Idols’, due for release on the 20th June, has shown a slight sonic change and reintroduction to his music, his value of self-expression remains unchanged. YUNGBLUD’s actions have always gone beyond writing and releasing music; the self-declared disrupter has brought together fans for intimate performances at pubs; a party on a boat down the Thames, where he projected lyrics from his song “Hope For The Underrated Youth” onto The Houses of Parliament; and fused a music video with a waterfight in the streets of London in an escapade eventually shut down by the police.
An ever-growing fan base risked the rockstar losing touch with his community. To stay connected with his fans and continue to push for change in the industry, he launched BLUDFEST. Describing last year’s festival, Dom said “This wasn’t just a show, we built a fucking world”. With promises of improvements to accessibility, and a genre-defying line-up that includes blackbear, Peach PRC, Luvcat, and Chase Atlantic, BLUDFEST is a festival championing freedom of expression and the best of live music. Headlined by YUNGBLUD, do not miss his only UK show of the year.
