Girl Group Are Their Own 'SAVIOUR/FATHER/PRINCE' In Their Latest Hyper-Pop Feminist Rager

Laughing right in the face of the patriarchy, British-Norwegian, genre-blending act Girl Group intertwines delightfully crunchy instrumentals and witty, satirical lyricism to form the ultimate feminist anthem: 'SAVIOUR/FATHER/PRINCE'. Electro-drums snap, crack, and pop, meanwhile sharp synths pump pure adrenaline through the speakers as the beaming symphony alone empowers you to run a marathon, rule the world, or simply dance alone in your bedroom.

Having met at LIPA, Girl Group's bond came to be through their individual passion for feminism, which has become the forefront of their musical identity. Through their playfully nuanced songwriting in this track, they cleverly combine humour with severity in lyrics such as: "Tell me / How to kill a spider / How to play pool / How to do my job 'cause you were in a band in school". No syllable is wasted, where every word becomes a bullet firing at anyone who dares mansplain.

Refusing to stand down, Girl Group tackle the gross dependency that women are seen to have on men, as they illuminate the ridiculousness of having to 'rely' on them for such simple tasks, completed by the infectious maximalism of their brazen and assertive sound. Despite this, certain segments of the track beautifully draw you in and out, allowing the groove to truly shine in this dynamic tune.

'SAVIOUR/FATHER/PRINCE' is more than a dance floor filler; it's a political statement, a freeing experience, an intellectual hyper-pop thrill.
