The Misty Unveil The Inventive 'Neverknows'

Dubbed the very first "post-surf" band, London's The Misty blend a plethora of influences to create their own, completely unique space to occupy in the alternative music scene. Channeling the chaos of modernity and melding it with the sun-bleached sepia tones of a '60s California, the quartet (quintet when performing live) embodies the epitome of the limitless bounds of art - a concept directly evidenced throughout their 2025 debut record, 'Poorly Planned Missions... Executed Worse'. 

The most recent addition to their discography comes in the form of the folk-tinged, blues-leaning cut, 'Neverknows'. A stark departure from the more Tame-Impala-esque soundscapes of their previous releases ('A Far Less Interesting And Distant Man'), or the more spaghetti-western notes of 'Sad Old Babydolls', 'Neverknows' cosies up '60s psychedelia and swirling instrumentation. Lush vocals perfectly complement euphoric percussion, as the narrative weaves through social commentary and confident-but-quirky metaphors.

Speaking on the track, the band offer: "It takes inspiration from the restless vocal delivery of [Bob] Dylan's 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' and the infectious strut of George Baker Selection's 'Little Green Baw', before breaking into a Yardbirds-inspired blues middle eight. Lyrically, it is packed with surreal, psychedelic imagery while retaining a distinctly British kitchen-sink edge".

With 'Neverknows', The Misty are further proving they're not a band restricted to conformity - even within a genre of their own creation, they're constantly expanding, evolving, metamorphosing into their next delightfully unexpected state.
