Introduce yourself and where you're from.
Hi! I’m Asha Jefferies, and I’m from a tiny town outside of Byron
Bay, Australia.
What do our readers need to know about you?
I like to make music where joy and loss meet, bake it in sparkly leadlines and sprinkle in wisdom and hope.
What have you got coming up that you’re most excited for?
I’m putting out my second album called 'Desire Is An Angel' on Oct 2nd. I essentially got obsessed with the feeling of desire, and this album is me exploring and documenting that.
What’s the best run-in you’ve had with a fan?
At one of my recent Australian shows, I met someone who had been listening to my music since 2017. She knew all the deep cuts; she told me about singing them at her high school recitals and that listening to my music had inspired her to find her distinct vocal style. It was such a beautiful conversation and moments like that are so special and surreal.
What’s been your biggest ‘I’ve made it’ moment so far?
Recently, I saw a pic of my face on a billboard in Times Square, NY. I was Spotify’s Equal ambassador for August, and it was a very big pinch-me moment!
