Nieve Ella Explores New Realms In Her Latest Single

With the release of Nieve Ella’s debut album only a few months away, the rock singer is providing a steady stream of singles, preparing for her new sound and genre shift as she divulges her music into a new realm. ‘Romance Is A Desert’ was released on August 28th; it takes a turn from the other singles. It’s sultry and fun, dealing with the topic of desire and indulging in those feelings.

Instantly transporting listeners into the song as the background vocals pull them in whilst paired with the guitar. It’s like a battle between Nieve Ella and the backing vocals, her voice almost pleading as the lyrics debate the worth of giving into the desire that relationships hold. “(What's the cost) To fall in love? / (Lay the price) When it hurts” With the desire winning the battle as Ella’s vocals come in strong, singing the title of the song. Yet this battle between backing and main vocals continues throughout the song, cleverly representing the debate in someone’s mind as they question whether to give in to want.

The instrumentals throughout the song are driven by the constant guitar and drums, creating a continuous rhythm that allows the vocals to shine through because they are layered so beautifully. There’s no need to overcomplicate the instrumentals because Ella’s powerful vocals create this sultry element throughout the song; it aims to pull the listeners into this world of desire that they have no choice but to give in to. It creates a break from the heavier themes in the album that have been heard so far; you can dance to this song and indulge in the fun that Nieve Ella wanted to create with ‘Romance Is A Desert’.

As Nieve Ella states throughout the song, “Call it what you want / Call it what you must”, it’s easy to call this single incredible as her style changes and evolves compared to the previous EP’s and singles over the years. It showcases her range and versatility by being able to tap into the lighter and darker themes within her music. It’s nothing short of fun and sexy. Nieve Ella’s debut album ‘How Long Will It Take?’ is released on October 18th, and it definitely won’t be one to miss.
