For a band that only began writing together during the COVID lockdown, it would be all too easy to avoid taking risks on their self-titled debut album, but that just isn’t in Adult DVD’s nature. As their latest track release shouts to the rooftops, this is a group bound by an ethos of “If there’s better shit to give a shit about, I don’t wanna know”. Following the vast success of tracks including ‘Do Something’ and ‘Bill Murray’, Adult DVD have spent time outside the recording studio conquering stages across the world to sharpen their already attentive energy.
This history of life on the road and the speed at which bands can snowball to popularity is felt in this recent track. Offering an insight into life in the limelight, frontman Harry Hanson sings about feeling like Jesus but only until “the drugs wore off”. But in this track the buzz never disappears, the comedown never arrives, and we are left free to embrace the chaos and dance through ‘Jesus Christ Supercar’. This energy is palpable in everything Adult DVD has done, and they will be looking to carry this momentum into their upcoming UK and Europe tour.

This is a band with no regard for genre definitions; everything is designed to serve their sound and audience.
