U2 Return With 'Street Of Dreams'

In preparation for their first full album in nine years, U2 return with the first track of the record, ‘Street of Dreams’, just in time to be the song of the summer.

Following each addition of instruments or vocals in the intro, the song gets louder, more triumphant and crescendos into a catchy, warm verse. The lyrics are filled with hope and perseverance. The message of staying strong and not giving up on your dreams can be heard throughout.

The beginning line of the chorus, which is in Spanish, “La calle, calle de los suenos”, reflects this sentiment to persist in your dreams. The music video was filmed in Mexico City, where the band also visited the 2026 Street Child World Cup Finals Tournament, which serves as possible inspiration for the track title.

The sound of this song is nostalgic, even for those who were too young to grow up listening to them, thanks to the production work of Jacknife Lee. It is unmistakably U2, with the harmonies, rolling snare and chiming guitar. An almost spiritual sound is created within the angelic vocal harmonies at both the beginning and end of this track.

After 39 years of waiting for them to find the name of the street, they have finally found it. If this first single is anything to go by, you should be keeping your eye out for the next summer anthem that U2 will undeniably release. Some things are worth the wait.
