Scottish singer-songwriter Alex Amor has released her latest single off her upcoming album ‘Heavenly Bodies’, fully transcending us to heavenly heights. Drawing comparisons to Lana Del Rey through her old-school sonics, Amor makes her own mark on the genre, with her decadent lyrics and luscious harmonies painting a rosy picture of how life is when you’re falling in love for the first time.
Through ‘Aquamarine’, Amor has created the perfect song to soundtrack falling in love in the summertime. Her descriptions of love are free and easy with her partner being described as “The lighthouse shining out / To bring me home again.” This person is described as her centre and the laid-back drum beat and airy guitar lines help emulate the calming feeling of falling in love.
This track was written and recorded with, in her words, the “holy trinity” of collaborators: Peter Brien, Baz Kaye and Karma Kid in sessions in both Glasgow and London. By combining their wildly expansive talents, they’ve aided the shaping of Amor’s unique and celestial sound.
Caught between euphoric sonics and grounding lyrics, Alex Amor’s artistry knows no bounds and this track will certainly be “The song I press replay on / When it hits the end.”
