Wet Leg Prove Their Pulse Is Still Strong As They Unleash ‘CPR (horsegiirL remix)’

Isle of Wight’s very own indie icons, Wet Leg, have released a reimagined version of ‘CPR’ featuring Berlin-born DJ horsegiirL. This is ahead of the release of the deluxe version of their sophomore studio album, ‘moisturizer’ (out July 10).

Originally a slow-tempo, sardonic, indie piece, fuelled by a clever array of vocal monologues, ‘CPR’ became one of Wet Leg’s standout tracks on the album. This remix deserves to be heaped with the same amount of praise.

However, it couldn’t be further removed from the song’s initial sound. This remix is a high-octane, techno-rave masterclass. It pays homage to horsegiirL’s origins in the queer underground rave scene. It really does sound like a floor-filler that would be played at a PiepShow night in Berlin’s KitKatClub or the monthly Gayhane party which takes place at Kreuzberg's legendary SO36.

The vocal monologue and spoken-word style that dominates the sound of the original track is still prominent throughout this reinvention of ‘CPR’. Albeit this time there is far more repetition and a refreshing array of pulsing beats, that certainly pack a punch. The track’s three minute, twenty second run time certainly helps with that too!

Also on the deluxe edition of ‘moisturizer’ is a groovy, Blur-esque, Britpop sounding remix ‘mangetout’ by The Dare and a rocky, riff-heavy reinvention of ‘catch these fists’ alongside Fontaines D.C.'s DJs (aka Carlos O’Connell and Tom Coll).

The album’s release coincides with a series of outdoor UK performances by Wet Leg, including a show at London’s Alexandra Palace and Leeds’ Millenium Square. It’s been a big year for horsegiirL so far too, with her set to travel North America and Europe with her headline, ‘NATURE IS HEALING’ concert tour

Released on June 25, via the Domino Recording Company, the turbocharged ‘CPR (horsegiirL remix)’ leaves listeners gasping for breath whilst proving Wet Leg’s pulse is still as strong as ever.
