Orla Gartland Shares Lead Single For Soundtrack Of Apple TV’s 'Trying'

Orla Gartland has returned to our ears with a new and exciting project. After announcing that she has written the soundtrack for Season 5 of comedy drama Trying on Apple TV+, the first song has certainly not disappointed.

Battling themes of chaotic family, long-term love, and dysfunctional relationships, Gartland has captured a delicate balance of each of those elements in the song. ‘At The End Of The Day’ is a romantic, warm, and real reflection on long-lasting love. Acoustic layers build around her gentle lyrics, as guitars play alongside strings to create a soft atmosphere.

The staple lyric that the song keeps looping back to “there’s no one else I’d wanna be with at the end of the day” centres the song, and dictates the mood. It is a love letter to those who know each other inside out, and a reminder of how lucky we are to build those relationships. “When you're part of the furniture / No, nothing is brand new” is just one of the lyrics that showcases the power of old, long love.

The second part of the song embraces stronger basslines and the mood shifts, as it mimics how a relationship changes and grows. From new and bouncy guitar riffs, to a moodier second part, it is the perfect commentary on the change from the newness of falling in love to the comfort of learning about each other.

The eight-song soundtrack is set to be released on 8th July, alongside Episode 1 of the series. If it is anything like this first song, it is set to be a testament to subtle love and happy relationships.
