Shaky’s dozen-track long sophomore offering is the more delicate, mature older sibling of the guitar-driven ‘Kinda Wild’.
The second installment of a triptych – each inspired by one of his three children - ‘Kinda Wild II’ finds its roots in softer soundscapes (‘Like What You See’), while not veering too far from the The Strokes-esque rock that enveloped the previous record (‘Take It Away’). Stand-out tracks ‘Sugar’ and ‘Oh Alice’ put Shaky’s vocals in the spotlight, supported by nostalgia-drenched guitar lines that weave through insistent percussive beats.
‘Kinda Wild II’ is an impressive, well-thought-out release that amps up excitement for the third installment.
