Ahead of her debut headline tour, we chat with Lizze Reid about "I've made it" moments with John Cale, fan run-ins, and her desert island album picks as part of the Seven Questions with Music Is To Blame Series.
Introduce yourself and where you’re from.
My name is Lizzie Reid and I am a singer/songwriter from Glasgow.
What do our readers need to know about you?
I have been releasing music for close to six years now and have been known for a soft, intimate sound, but this year I will be releasing music that is sonically harsher, darker, and bigger. Maybe some of your readers will have seen me playing for other artists such as Jacob Alon, Hamish Hawk, Lucia and The Best Boys.
What have you got coming up that you’re most excited for?
I have my first-ever headline tour coming up in April 2026! I will be heading out across the UK playing music of mine, old and new, with a band. I am so excited to share what I’ve been working on and what I’ve been sitting on for quite some time now. It’s ready to be unleashed!
What’s the best run-in you’ve had with a fan?
I don’t think I have had any particularly funny run-ins with fans. Most of them are very sweet. I remember someone travelled from Switzerland to come to see me play in Edinburgh, and they brought me a tiny wooden cow with a bell on it. I still have it, thank you, Allie! I have a very small but dedicated fan base, and they mean the world to me.
What’s been your biggest ‘I’ve made it’ moment so far?
My biggest ‘I’ve made it moment’ was probably supporting Paolo Nutini at The Hydro in Glasgow, or at the Royal Highland Showgrounds in Edinburgh. Going on tour with John Cale was also a huge moment for me, along with opening up for Tori Amos at one of her shows. She is a hero of mine, so that meant a great deal to me.
What are your three “desert island” albums?
My three ‘desert island’ albums would be 'Blue' by Joni Mitchell, 'Hounds of Love' by Kate Bush, and 'Miss Universe' by Nilufer Yanya.
Sum up your sound in three words.
Warm, jagged, and unpredictable.
