Isle of Wight band Wet Leg have returned with a remix of their quirky indie track ‘mangetout,’ collaborating with The Dare to transform it into an electronic, dancefloor-ready hit. The Dare is known for his collaborations, including Charli XCX’s ‘Guess’, featuring Billie Eilish, as well as his 2024 album, ‘What’s Wrong with New York?’.
Their original track ‘mangetout’ further established Wet Leg's sound on their successful second album, 'moisturizer', which took the unserious tone and pop culture references of their self-titled debut and produced a more polished, elevated take on it. ‘Mangetout’ is a standout track on this album, showcasing the band's strengths.
While the lyrics mostly remain the same on the remix, keeping the track's whimsical tone, the indie rock sound has been replaced with pulsing beats and synths. Layered over the repetition and echoes of the original, The Dare has created a perfect club hit. His influence is evident in this shift of sound: the remix takes on a dance feel, while the lyrical approach of Wet Leg's previous work complements the ironic, self-aware tone of The Dare.
This reimagining of ‘mangetout’ acts as a reminder that Wet Leg are constantly challenging the expectations of themselves as artists, creating excitement for the direction of their future projects.
