Sienna Tenn is back with her latest release, ‘wish it was you’. Pushing on the emotions of yearning and want, Tenn executes these feelings best throughout the entire track. 'Wish it was you’ plays heavily on the emotions of longing for someone or something that will never come back. Tenn showcases the feeling of what comes after heartbreak in a space where longing becomes all too consuming to focus on anything else. The vocal pleas of yearning for someone who is gone are the key highlight of this track. Tenn delivers such a soft vocal tone with an even sadder track to back her up. What makes this song resonate the most is its universality. The ache of wanting someone who isn't there anymore is something everyone has experienced once in their life, and Tenn sings it best. 

Production-wise, ‘wish it was you’ showcases the layers of want as well. The piano functions as the rhythmic backbone of the track rather than just being used as a background instrument. It becomes the anchor to the track, giving the listener the only sense of emotional continuity. With layered vocals stacked on top of that, creating depth without overwhelming the track as a whole. The layering throughout the track helps show that feeling of yearning and loneliness even more.

Tenn allows us to feel what she’s feeling the entire time, and that heartbreak is what gives the track its emotional vulnerability.
