Why Burglar’s ‘Lovey’ Is Stealing Hearts

Burglar, a Dublin-based duo consisting of Eduardo Pinheiro and Willow Hannon, formed in 2021 after meeting at college, have certainly made an influential impact on their audience. Burglar have recently named one of the ‘50 People To Watch For 2026’ in the Irish Times and they have stepped into the spotlight at a very exciting time in their career.

While the name Burglar may suggest that the music they create is to be gritty and loud, what listeners actually receive is a sophisticated blend of lush, hazy synths with effortless vocals. Their latest single ‘Lovey’ offers a direct emotional connection between the duo and their audience.

One week after Pinheiro went through a breakup, the initial foundations of this song were created. The song was labelled as one 'that was born out of headspace’, but Pinheiro came back to it a year later, causing a shift in the narrative of the song.

The song beautifully captures the mental turmoil of a breakup. Hannon’s dissociation vocal style acts as a perfect counterpart to the confessional lyrics that are sung by Pinheiro - perfectly demonstrating the battles of emotional battles within the human mind.

Whether you are battling your own mental battles or looking for your next song obsession, ‘Lovey’  is a must listen to song that has already started shaping 2026 as Burglar's breakthrough year.
