The Molotovs Unveil ‘Get A Life’ From Upcoming Debut Album

For two teenage musicians, the sibling duo Issey and Matt Cartlidge of The Molotovs, have had a far longer lifetime’s worth of gigging experience, after performing 600 shows and counting since the band was conceived.

Along the way, the pair have picked up masses of fans who eagerly await their debut album ‘Wasted On Youth’, set for release later this month. Three of their earlier singles from this album have achieved top 10 slots on vinyl charts, and their intense, high-energy punk-revival sound has made the band a favourite amongst fans of The Buzzcocks, The Libertines, The Jam, and, of course, previous tour-mates The Sex Pistols.

Their latest single continues their sound with excitement, unabashed youthfulness, and frustrated impatience. Announcing its release, the band addressed the single to “all you hateful b*stards”, introducing a more lyrically negative song than what the band had previously released.

Issey shares, “Our authenticity is the number one priority. As soon as you change that- it’s your artistic credibility that goes. We won’t be forfeiting it anytime soon.”

The riffs are catchy, the rhythm is bouncy, the melody makes you want to jump around, stomp on the floor, and fling your hair about. It’s easy to imagine this song waking a crowd into a fast frenzy with its racing tempo. The upbeat tune balances out the more vicious lyrics, making the single more fun and rebellious, rather than downright aggressive.

The band is maturing in their language and view towards their more hateful critics (“I hope you feel / This makes you interesting / Another story / For you to shout and sing / To any f***** / That is listening / How about you go get a life?”), possibly one of the downsides to their staggering online popularity. This latest single cements fans’ excitement for this promising band’s future.
