After just dropping her debut album ‘Stage Girl’, singer-songwriter Eli is quick to follow up with new material. ‘Glitter’ is a track that fans have been eagerly awaiting, given the teasers released on social media. Now that it’s theirs, the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Its production immediately evokes the nostalgia of the late 90s, laced with glimmering synths and a laid-back groove. It’s a slow-paced track that’s perfect for a late-night drive or for blasting through your headphones. With light harmonies and breathy vocals, the track captures its name perfectly and carries a sense of empowerment.
It serves as a reminder to not settle for less, with iconic lines like “you should be his baby not his babysitter”. Eli sings directly to the listener; it’s almost like having a conversation with your best friend. The spoken word section amplifies this effect, providing the brutal truth but in an uplifting way, before exploding back into the chorus.
All in all, ‘Glitter’ radiates a warm, heartfelt honesty with the charm of 90s teen pop, whilst still remaining refreshing. This sound allows Eli to have a distinct identity and builds up even more anticipation for what’s to come from her.
