Spacey Jane have teamed up with the iconic Mallrat to release their ‘magic megamix’ of the dreamy ‘Estimated Delivery’.
Mallrat adds a soothing and slightly melancholy yet enlightening perspective to the song.
The track already touches on this familiar pain of waiting and uncertainty. Its complexion of euphoric melodies and catchy chord progressions creates this warm feeling, complementing its bittersweet yet realistic lyricism – “Watchin' the butter melt on our toast / And if we burn, I hope we burn slow”. The song feels like a goodbye to summer, an embodiment of nostalgia.
Mallrat’s verse shifts the energy of the song. It’s confrontational and strong-willed, addressing problems, rather than this sense of nonchalance from Caleb Harper’s verses – “Thought you were an angel / now I don't know what to think.” Her voice brings a sense of elegance to the already celestial melody that we have seen previously in her tracks ‘Teeth’ and ‘Groceries’.
The ’Estimated Delivery – magic megamix’ comes as a new addition to Spacey Jane’s showstopping third Album ‘If That Makes Sense’, just five months after its release.
The Aussies are currently on their UK tour, hitting London on October 23rd. There seems to be a bright future ahead for the indie rock four-piece.
