Miles Kane Returns With Spiritual Anthem 'I Pray’

Miles Kane has given us another taste of his upcoming sixth studio album ‘Sunlight in the Shadows’, with the soaring guitar anthem ‘I Pray’, and proves he’s still full of surprises.

The track, produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, is an ode to Kane’s newfound spirituality, and according to the man himself, “embracing something new about yourself while staying true to who you are”.

This aspect of the track doesn’t feel wishy-washy, which in others' hands it could (hello, Coldplay), but here it feels honest, and for Kane, that is very refreshing. The guitars on the track reflect this, with towering riffs that reflect his confidence in expressing this to the world.

Kane had this riff before Auerbach got involved, but his punchy production style really complements Kane’s directness. Lyrics such as “I'm not an innocent man/I never claimed that I am/But I'm just trying to do right/So I can hold you tonight” are self-reflective, mature, and to the point.

Miles Kane continues to impress with 'I Pray', which is arguably one of his best tracks in years. He has distilled his newfound spirituality into a 3-and-a-half-minute rock anthem while furthering himself as an artist.

Roll on the album.
