Lambrini Girls Crank Up The Chaos With Peaches On 'C*ntology 101 Remix'

Ahead of their world tour, kicking off September 19th, British Punk-Pop duo, Lambrini Girls, have shared a remix of ‘C*ntology 101’However, this time they have teamed up with electronic diva, Peaches, thus making the track even more raucous, bold and anarchically camp than it was before!

‘C*ntology 101’ was initially featured on the duo's critically acclaimed, somewhat era-defining debut album, ‘Who Let The Dogs Out’. It is fierce, unapologetically angry, and yet somewhat cathartic.

Speaking to Kerrang! in 2024, about the original version of the track, vocalist and guitarist Phoebe Lunny explained that this is one for “the girls, the gays and the theys”. Lunny goes on to say that: “I did want to write something which was affirming and about loving yourself and having self-assurance and confidence, but it is also a really fucking stupid song.”

In short, ‘C*ntology 101’ is a techno-punk track that you can rage to in the shower, whilst also managing to be an edgy, anarchic party anthem, full of rocky riffs, that could easily encourage lager-fueled dance-offs (and potentially lager-fueled fallouts).

So, naturally, revisiting a song that is so full of spunk, fire, and fun is a risk. However, it was a risk worth taking and a risk that has paid off for Lambrini Girls — courtesy of Peaches.

Discussing her role in the remix, Peaches simply gushes: “The track is c**t! It was a no-brainer! Punk AF”. Well, thank goodness for that because the queer icon, whose career has spanned over two decades, who has also previously collaborated with the likes of Christina Aguilera and Yoko Ono, manages to transform this version of ’C*ntology 101’ into a sexually charged, punk/pop/dance track.

The tempo is much faster, the beat more synthetic. At times, it feels like the early work of Amyl and The Sniffers and Bikini Kill. Other times, it feels like a Robyn-esque dance track from the early noughties.

Peaches’ breakout section is ambitiously daring, sexually progressive and also highly amusing. Lyrics such as: “Smoke a blunt through my c*nt / Watch it billow out my butt“ and “Cut a hole, stick it in / Let it breathe, let me in”, push the boundaries just about as far as they can be pushed.

This remix of ‘C*ntology 101’ remains just as self-affirming and self-assured as the original ‘era defining’ track. However, this time, Lambrini Girls crank up the chaos with the help of Peaches, who brings an extra helping of sass, sex, and satire to the record.

It was only a matter of time before Lambrini Girls and Peaches came together, and they did not disappoint!
