Heartfelt Vulnerability Shrouded In Metal: Impose by Bad Omens

Bad Omens are back with another single, and it’s the perfect follow-up to their previous work ‘Specter’

‘Impose’ is more than just a confession from lead singer Noah Sebastian, but a deeper look into fears, anxieties, and insecurities that strike an emotional chord. The song itself is written very well: it speaks to the quality of the band. This song has lyrics crafted in a way that ties in with the song’s themes of feeling insignificant and not enough, therefore putting vulnerability at the forefront.

Lyrics such as “ I’m losing my leverage, all of the evidence/ That I’m not, just a fraud” tap into the insecurities whilst the chorus has another standout lyric that encapsulates the themes of struggling - “What’s it say about me if I never change/ and I push everyone away/ on borrowed time you know you can’t repay”.

The song balances chilled and emotional vibes perfectly and is reminiscent of earlier works that highlight his incredible vocal range, such as ‘bad decisions’  (from the 2022 album ‘THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND’). ‘Impose'  is the latest example of his vocals tugging at the heartstrings, which further adds to a mystical and wonderful track.
