‘Vicious Delicious’ is a Venus fly trap that draws you in with Luvcat's angelic siren call, enthralling you in the exhilaration of danger and desire, before ensnaring you into melancholic, cabaret-infused, pop melodrama.
With a combination of seductive strings and an addictive groove, the track delves into the darkness of dangerous love, based on “a terrible man who tasted like heaven,” who was “moreish, magnetic, devilishly handsome and danced like Fred Astaire”.
Luvcat laments the hedonistic heartbreaker, the knife's edge between disgust and desire, and all of the confusion that comes in tow.
Recollecting the insatiable love of Sid and Nancy, and the dangerous devotion of Penny Lane, the track revels in intoxication, caught in the thrill of the chase but painfully aware of the danger it brings; devilish grin or not.
The accompanying music video draws inspiration from The Addams Family; a surreal, self-directed music video that dances with the devil. From the gluttony of the feast to his prideful, wandering eye, viewers are brought down the rabbit hole of Luvcat's surrealist lipstick-smeared wonderland.
The titular track accompanies the news of Luvcat's long-awaited debut album, under the same title, dropping on 31st October via AWAL; the release date being every bit as theatrical as the artist herself.
‘Vicious Delicious’ is not just an album, but the doorway into a surreal, gothic fairytale that subverts every notion of love and innocence with the dangerous eroticism of desire that thrives in the shadows.
