Emerging from the capital’s ever-evolving alt-rap scene, the London-based group have steadily built a catalog of smooth, emotionally resonant singles since 2023. With nine tracks already under their belt, their sound has matured into a cohesive, easy-listening body of work that leaves you demanding more.
Initially formed by lyricist Yas and producer Cian (aka Cloudman), the project took on new life when they linked up with guitarist Ben and bassist Eli, evolving into a tight-knit four-piece with a shared musical vision: to fuse introspective rap, hazy vocals, and a DIY ethos that feels both intimate and unrestrained.
‘Complicated’ captures everything the band does best. Moody yet melodic, grounded in honest lyricism, and laced with the sonic textures of late-night cityscapes, Yas’ lyrical wit and delivery remains front and centre: “Spent a whole week / Running round my head, I did a marathon / I’m running out of time, looking at the clock…”. Perfectly juxtaposed, anxiety-soaked lyrics delivered over sublime, infectious guitar and bass riffs create a visceral, relatable portrait many London-dwellers will recognise.
Having spent the past year gigging across the capital and steadily gaining momentum, yas. are beginning to reap the rewards of their grind, with recent spins on Radio 1’s BBC Introducing marking a well-earned step into the spotlight.
