It has been revealed that the frontman of Black Sabbath passed away yesterday morning. Ozzy Osbourne has died only weeks after the already infamous Back to the Beginning live event, where he was joined by his former bandmates as well as an array of rock and metal stars.
Ozzy was born in 1948 in Aston, Birmingham. Right from Black Sabbath's 1970 debut album, 'Black Sabbath', he has shaped and defined the genre of metal. He continued this legacy after his departure from Black Sabbath with an influential solo career.
His work alongside incredible guitarists like Randy Rhoads helped continue his lengthy career. His solo career produced hits such as 'Crazy Train' and 'No More Tears'.
Ozzy was later known for being a part of 'The Osbournes' TV show, which played an important role in the development of reality TV shows. He would continue to work alongside his immediate family in ways such as guest appearances and podcasts. His wife, Sharon Osbourne, played a big part in both his musical and television careers.
In more recent times, Ozzy battled with Parkinson's disease, revealing the diagnosis back in 2019. His ill health has meant a lack of live performances in recent years. However, he was able to make a surprise appearance at the 2022 Commonwealth Games closing ceremony in Birmingham. Then on 5th July this year, he took to the stage in his hometown of Aston for a farewell performance. Back to the Beginning saw Ozzy seated on a throne, where he sang some of his most iconic numbers, such as 'Mama, I'm Coming Home'.
Tributes have already poured in from the likes of Metallica, Elton John and Ronnie Wood. There is no denying the profound impact Ozzy Osbourne has had on music. His legacy will continue through the countless artists he has inspired.
