Humour Show Their Vulnerable Sensibilities On ‘In the Paddies’

Frantic and confused, Humour's new single, ‘In the Paddies’ is a startling sight to behold.

Standing before you, its imposing size, created by wide-set shoulders and thick arms, long enough to wrap around your body, create a sense of unease. Intense eyes stare, and the long, grey creature that looms before you is menacing.

But, after standing there a little longer, a further inspection reveals those arms, that first appeared strong and deadly, hang loose and tired. Eyes that initially sparked fear, sit sunken and lost. The beast you thought was here to scare you is wounded and distressed. This is not a creature looking to kill, this is a creature looking for help.

If 'In The Paddies' was a wardrobe monster, it would look something like this. The song begins off-kilter with nonsense lyrics spurted over a punky guitar.  A sense of panic is created as tight, but equally frenetic, drums are introduced.

Psychosis is just about to set in when, suddenly, just like that moment with the monster at the foot of the bed, a melodic emo-indie chorus stirs you into a beautiful realisation and the vulnerability of Humour is exposed.

Tainted, metal vocals further this sentiment and together, with the instrumentation, they produce a song that appeals to the child within us all.
