Sultry, Smoky, and Surrendered: Luvcat’s Latest Single ‘Lipstick’ Leaves A Mark

Following the success of a recent leg of European shows, Luvcat returns with a proverbial kiss in release form, ‘Lipstick’.

Equal parts sweet to sultry, Luvcat weaves a tale of desire and devotion in her latest offering, lamenting on a real-life experience (with the subsequent drummer on the track) that subverts the fairy tale, turning the desire to be adored into a shadowy story of submission and surrender.

From Luvcat’s hypnotic vocals to the flourishes of keys and horn, every aspect of the track echoes whispers of cabaret and candle-lit rooms filled with cigarette smoke, clad in velvet.

The track is accompanied by a self-produced music video created by Luvcat and Ollie Bradley-Baker, drawing on visuals from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, an homage to the singer’s childhood obsession with the film. Complete in doll-like attire, it’s stunningly subversive and draws you deeper into the fantastically dark and playful world of Luvcat, where revelry, kink, and devotion all come as a package deal—sealed with a kiss, of course.

Following the success of explosive ‘Matador’ and the utterly addictive murder-ballad, ‘He’s My Man’, this only strives to prove that Luvcat is the voice the music scene has needed to call from the darkness.

You can catch Luvcat at the following festival appearances:

May 25: Radio 1’s Big Weekend, UK
June 28: Glastonbury Festival, UK
August 23: Reading Festival, UK
August 25: Leeds Festival, UK
