‘Weeds’ comes hot on the heels of another of their recently released tracks, ‘Jungle’, which landed well with fans and has an upbeat dancefloor feel, contrasting with the tender vibe of ‘Weeds’.
Produced by Grammy-winner Jon Shave and co-written with Anya Jones – collaborator with Lola Young, Kylie Minogue, and Purple Disco Machine – the track is a stand-out atmospheric number exploring friendship and what it means to grow together, with killer harmonies in typical Sugababes fashion.
Now the band, who reunited as their original lineup in 2019, have shared a new dream-like music video for the single. Directed by Gemma Yin, the video has an ethereal, sultry vibe. Buchanan, Buena, and Donaghy each perform their verses with calming backdrops of plants, flowers, water, and slow-moving clouds, creating a look that is well-fitted to the ambient feel of the track.
Since 8th April, Sugababes have kicked off their first UK tour as the original lineup, also doubling as their biggest-ever arena tour. Despite their busy schedules, Sugababes have confirmed that this won’t stop them from releasing new music, as they have a back catalogue of songs to share.
